Anna Maria IslandToday’s morning trip was phenomenal.  We left out of Anna Maria Island and headed south to Sarasota Bay.  Hopping around grass flats, mangroves shore lines, and deeper sand holes, we managed to put together a pretty successful fishing trip. Redfish, Sea Trout, Snook, and Flounder were caught ad released today. Our biggest Redfish was 27 inches, we also caught a 21 inch Gator Trout and a massive 20 inch door mat Flounder. All of the snook were under slot biggest being around 25 inches.

Afternoon trip was a little more difficult, we couldn’t really fish the pattern is have been on due to the amount of boat traffic, fishermen and weekend boaters. But Frank and I made a little run to a deep grass flat in Sarasota Bay were we caught a 22 inch Sea Trout and a handfull of juvenile Snook. So we headed back towards Anna Maria Island looking for any Mangrove islands that were undisturbed, meaning they didn’t have a lot of boat traffic. We managed a few more Snook, largest around 26 inches. A few Redfish ranging from 19″ to 27″.
