WHEEEEWWWW! What a busy week around Anna Maria Island, spring break is definitely in full swing. We fished two trips every day all week long here at Wildman Adventures and boy were the fish biting.

Not only was Monday chilly with strong North winds, we also had a very slow incoming tide all day making the fishing pretty tough for both of my groups. We put our heads down and scrounged up a few Snook and Trout for both parties. Toughest day of the week by far.

Tuesday the winds layed down a bit and the temperatures started to creep up along with stronger water movement allowing my crew to put together a pretty nice day. We stayed inside the bay fishing for snook, trout and Spanish Mackerel. We started the day on a deep grass flat catching Spanish Mackerel and Spotted sea Trout. The guys put about 5 keeper Spanish in the cooler and about 20 or so nice Trout that we release to fight another day. We then moved on to fishing the mangrove lines for for Snook and Redfish, it wasn’t until about midday and the water temperatures rose and the Snook begin to fire. We landed around 15 snook by the end of our day.

Wednesday was a great day, nice and calm, my morning trip wanted “BIG FISH” so we headed of the beach of Anna Maria Island in search of the almighty Kingfish also known as a Smoker because the take so much line off the reel once you get a hook in them. We spent the morning catching these awesome fish and put a few in the cooler for a nice dinner before we headed back. My afternoon crew was game for the kingfish as well, although they were not as lucky, every fished we hooked before it made it boat side was attacked by a shark! After a few times of this my crew decided they had enough of getting their hearts broke by the “Tax Man” so we headed back inshore to the flats where we were able to complete a inshore slam. We caught Redfish up to 30 inches, Snook up to 32 inches and a Gator trout at 22 inches. Great day of fishing with both groups

Thursday morning was a great trip! We started our morning off by loading the boat with Spanish Mackerel for the cooler and a absolute mess of Spotted Sea Trout, as the winds grew out of the South to around 25 knots we decided to tuck away to the bushes where we found a School of Jack Crevelle and a few snook. We also landed a bonus flounder that will go nicely on the grill! My afternoon had to suffer through some harsh 25+ Knt winds but the made it happen, we bumped around catching a boat load of snook and few trout. They were also lucky enough to land a nice Flounder.

Friday was an excellent fishing day despite some windier conditions. My morning crew decided they just wanted to catch and release being that they were headed home the next morning so we spent our time catching Snook, Redfish, and Trout. First spot was all large Trout, ranging from 16-22 inches. Once the water came up we headed to the bushes we managed around 15 or so Snook and even a couple Redfish. My afternoon once again had to brave some heavy winds out of the south gusting up to 25 knots. But the boys nor the fish didn’t mind. We tucked away in the back water and absolutely put the smack down on Snook, Trout, Jack Crevelle. The largest snook came in around 32 inches and few Trout over 20 inches.

Such a wonderful week of fishing. Had a few old friends on the boat through out the week and was even lucky enough to make some new friends and fishing buddies. If you are looking to get on the water I have some dates left in in the last couple weeks of April, but hurry because they are booking up fast! Tight lines, Capt. Wes Wildman
