February has been very good fishing through out Sarasota and Tampa Bay. Water temperatures are on the rise, you know what that means! Bring on the Pilchards! Trout, Snook, Redfish, pretty much everything thing that swims around Anna Maria Island love the white bait.
We have been getting limits of nice big Sea Trout on our Inshore fishing charters in the Sarasota Bay. We target these fish on the deeper grass flats with nice sanyou pot holes. The juvenile Snook are schooled up tight, most charters we will land 30 snook or more, with a couple slot fish mixed in. The Redfish bite is also heating up, a lot top slot and over slot fishing being caught through out the Sarasota bay.
The nearshore reefs off Anna Maria Island are consistently producing Hog Snapper, some days limiting out the boat. Along with the Hogfish come a variety of other snapper, porgies, and Grouper. The winds make these trips difficult this time of year but we love to charge out there when the weather prevails.
Tight lines,
Capt. Wes Wildman
