I had some of my favorite clients out today, Brian and his son Cameron. They wanted to try to head off the beach of Anna Maria Island to some nearshore hard bottom to try for some Hogfish, we made it about 4 miles out before we decided that the weather was just a bit much. The seas were 2-3 ft and a 10 kt wind straight out of the north so it made it very sloppy.
We headed back in to fish some artificial reefs inside the bay were the boys managed to put some nice Mangrove snapper, sheephead, and Grey snappers in the box for dinner. We finished our trip off by fishing a few docks around the Island, Brian capped the day off with a 28 inch Redfish.
Even though we did not get to accomplish exactly what we had planned we still had a pretty productive morning on the water. If you are looking to catch some nice fish to fill a cooler Tampa Bay is producing very well right now, give us a call to get your trip booked today! Tight lines, Capt. Wes Wildman
