Great day fishing around Anna Maria Island today, my morning trip started off by fishing a nearshore reef just off the coast of Holmes Beach. Here we were able to limit out on the elusive Permit. These fish are very special to me considering we don’t not see them around our area very often, and not to mention they are such great tasting species.
The afternoon was pretty good as well, although we had to brave some winds as they shifted out of the south and blowing 15-20 knots, this was due to a cold front approaching us. We were able to head south and fish some docks around Long Boat Key were we put together a great bag of Sheephead ranging from 15-22 inches, some of the largest Sheep head I have seen this season.
The bite is great in the Anna Maria Island area, if you are looking to book a trip now it the time! Tight lines, Capt. Wes Wildman
