Not the most ideal weather for a fishing charter here on Anna Maria Island today, with winds directly out of the north at around 12 knots and scatered showers it definitely made for a cold and soggy morning. My crew Marty and his son Ayden made the best of it and ended up doing very well catching a variety of species, including Permit, Sheephead, Bonnethead sharks, ladyfish, and Spanish Mackerel.
The bite started out a little slow due to being a slack tide at the beginning of our trip. Once the tide started coming in the Permit bite kicked off and the boys landed their limit within a hour or so. They also caught a few Bonnethead Sharks, ladyfish and Spanish Mackerel at our first stop.
We finished our day off with catching a few Sheephead around some deeper docks that are on Anna Maria island. Even though the weather was not perfect I would said Marty and Ayden made the best of our trip and left with plenty of fish to feed their family. Spring is trying so hard to start here in Florida and I can definitely tell you I am ready for it, bring in thje 80 degree temps and Pilchards! Fish on, Capt Wes Wildman
