Payton’s beautiful Redfish

Great day through out Tampa bay today! My afternoon crew from Kentucky experiences a great inshore bite. Everything from Snook, Redfish, Sea Trout, and Jack Crevelle hit the deck.

We started out in Terra Ceia bay fishing a mangrove edge looking for Snook on a strong out going tide. Tossing live shiners we managed around 20 or so fish before we moved on, but before we left Payton managed a beautiful Redfish that we released to fight another day.

As the water began to creep out we headed to a deep grass flat off of Anna Maria island looking for some nice Spotted Sea Trout that my folks could take home and put on the grill. We managed the boat limit of 6 within about 30 minutes or so. We also came across a big school of nice Jack Crevelle that bit for a little while, some of them in the ten pound range. These fish do not make great table fair but man do the put up a awesome battle.

The fishing is still great around Anna Maria Island, and the water quality seems to be staying strong through out lower Tampa Bay and Sarasota Bay. We are also catching some beautiful Sharks, Snapper and and Spanish Mackerel on the reefs through out the Area. My morning trip landed a nice Juvenile Bull Shark this morning. If you are visiting the Anna Maria Island area and are looking to do some fishing give us a call, we would love to take you on an adventure of a life time! Tight Lines, Capt. Wes Wildman
