The Tarpon are just now showing up around Anna Maria Island. we have some availability for prime hill tide dates in May and June. if you are looking to play with a silver king and knock it off the bucket list than check us out. The week leading up to the full moon is prime time, we will have the most fish around and they will also be the most active. Lets not miss our opportunity to fly one of the silver giants from the beaches of Anna Maria Island and Longboat key.
Tarpon Fishing can be very tricky and just down right humbling sometimes. Making sure you do your own due diligence with weather, tides, and time of year will definitely help you accomplish this feat. When booking a Tarpon trip always remember it can be a waiting game, with some days being absolute epic and hooking multiple fish and others we may get lucky with a bite or two. Your job as the angler is to listen to the coach to the best of your ability to ensure that we land the magnificent beast. Fighting a Tarpon can be very technical especially if we are around structure or multiple other boats.
Tarpon season also bring in all kinds of sharks! I believe that a Hammerhead sharks’ favorite meal is Tarpon. Not only do we have huge Hammerheads in this area but massive Bull sharks, Tigers and the occasional lemon shark have been seen proweling. The problem is it takes so long to battle and break the spirit of these beast that by the time they are near the boat they are exhausted and become an easy meal. We do our absolute best to keep them away from the sharks and revive these fish so they can live to fight another day. Sometimes we just are not that lucky, and the circle of life happens.
