Man it’s been hot here around Anna Maria Island, and the fishing has stayed just hot! Our inshore trips are producing plenty of Snook, Jack Crevele, Mangrove Snapper, Flounder and a few other species.

The Nine family with a big Anna Maria Island Snook!

We have been getting our morning trips out with no problems but have been getting chased off the water by afternoon thunder stroms by the early afternoon, and not to mention the incredibly hot weather. So I would say if you are looking to book a charter in the coming weeks try to get a morning slot with whome ever you choose for the best experience possible.

The hatch has happened for our bait, so we are seeing that smaller 2-3 inch baits instead of the larger baits that we see in the spring time. Nonetheless the fish are eating it! Match the hatch I always tell everyone. And with the small bait showing up the Mangrove Snapper have really flooded the bay. I have seen some of the largest bay snapper that I have ever seen this year, some of them going 20 inches. Also plenty of them we are catching limits to take home wether we have 2 people aboard or 4. It really has been a great summer Mangrove Snapper bite here inside of Tampa Bay.

Mangrove Snapper for dinner

Lots of larger snook being caught lately as well. Multiple fish over 30 inches. We are catching them everywhere from the flats of Tampa bay to the beaches of Anna Maria Island. They are eating the smaller hatch bait as well! ELEPHANTS EAT PEANUTS just remember that when you see that small bait show up.

The fishing is still great all around Anna Maria Island and we are expecting it to stay that way through the fall, we should be seeing some nice schools of big Redfish showing up soon. If you are looking for a fishing trip now is the time, especially if you are a Snapper fan. Dont miss out be for the snapper head back offshore!
